Designers and casting directors read your bio after they've looked at your photos. If the photos created interest, the bio either confirms it or kills it. Most model bios are forgettable. Here's how to write one that isn't.
The anatomy of a great model bio
A strong bio is two to four sentences. It covers three things: who you are professionally, what you specialize in, and something that makes you specific and memorable. That's it. Not your height (that's in your stats). Not your measurements (same). Not a list of buzzwords.
The formula that works
Start with your experience and specialty. Add something specific that signals your personality or a unique strength. Close with what makes you genuinely valuable to work with. Example: 'Commercial and lifestyle model based in NYC, specializing in brand campaigns and e-commerce content. I bring a genuinely relaxed presence to set that translates directly to camera — which is why brands keep coming back for seasonal shoots. Fluent in English and Spanish.'
“Don't write the bio you think sounds impressive. Write the bio that sounds like you — the version of you that's easiest and most interesting to work with.”

Things to avoid
- 1'Passionate about fashion' — everyone says this, it means nothing
- 2Third person ('Sofia is a model who...') — it reads cold and detached
- 3Lists of every brand you've ever worked with — use the portfolio for that
- 4Vague adjectives without substance: 'versatile', 'hardworking', 'dedicated'
- 5Typos or grammatical errors — they signal a lack of attention to detail
Update it when you change
Your bio should evolve as you do. When you break into a new category, add it. When your primary market shifts, update it. When you develop a new strength or credential, mention it. A stale bio from two years ago doesn't represent who you are today.
